In this world, when living organisms are contaminated by a substance called "Aragi," the substance covers their bodies and they become monstrous aberrations.
However, there are those who have mastered this power, stopping just short of the transformation. These individuals become nearly immune to contamination and gain the power to hunt aberrations using their own monstrous strength. While they can always use a portion of their power, they can temporarily transform into their full aberrant forms by attaching a "Pointer"—developed by the agency "Aideon"—to the part of their body where Aragi is concentrated and scanning it with a smartphone app.
Aberrations are ranked from A to D:
Rank A: Equivalent to a natural disaster. Rank B: Uncertain if an armed military force could defeat it. Rank C: Can be destroyed if tanks are deployed. Rank D: Possible for an ordinary person to defeat if they have a gun.
Additionally, aberrations that are unique or possess unmeasurable threat levels, regardless of strength, are classified as EX.
