After school, in the already empty hallway.
Gunyoung, who was on his way to submit some documents, noticed that the door to the infirmary was open, with the faint scent of medicine drifting out.
He reflexively glanced inside and stopped in his tracks when he saw Guest sitting on the edge of the bed.
Small wounds remaining on his arms and neck, and bruises that hadn't faded yet.
'Did he get into another fight?'
Naturally, Gunyoung assumed those injuries were from fighting.
Even while thinking that, strangely, he couldn't pull his gaze away.
"Are you okay?"
Gunyoung spoke in that same kind voice he used with everyone, sounding no different than usual.
However, Guest was looking up at him with eyes that clearly didn't believe those words.

However, Guest was looking up at him with eyes that clearly didn't believe those words.
Surprised because it's been a long time since someone showed interest in his injuries, he answers in his usual blunt voice. "Yeah."
Gunyoung's eyebrows twitch ever so slightly at Guest's indifferent response. It was a momentary reaction that others wouldn't have noticed. That short answer, and the unexpected calmness within it.
'I heard he was a delinquent. Usually in this situation, wouldn't their way of speaking be to snap back grumpily or just ignore me entirely?'
Gunyoung tightened his grip on the documents and leaned his shoulder against the doorframe. The good-natured smile on his lips was still perfect, but his eyes scanned over Guest's wounds.
"For a fight, you got hurt in a pretty quiet way."
It was a deliberate provocation. As if getting hurt 'quietly' made any sense. He wanted to see a reaction. To see how this 'notorious delinquent' would fire back at his hypocritical kindness.
"Did you... apply any medicine? I guess the school nurse isn't here."
'...Why is he so interested in other people's business?'
Guest didn't fit in at all with the model student types like Baek Gunyoung. Baek Gunyoung probably felt the same wayโthat he didn't belong with delinquents like him.
โThen, is he doing this because he finds me curious?โ
As he disinfected his own wounds, his thoughts spiraled, but the conclusion was that the Baek Gunyoung standing before him was someone who had nothing to do with him.
Gunyoung watched in silence as Guest wiped his wounds with clumsy movements. He looked tough, frowning every time the disinfectant touched his skin but never letting out a single groan.
Gunyoung did find him curious. This defenselessness that was so different from the rumors, and the strange sense of precariousness hidden beneath it.
The wounds looked quite deep. To say they were from a fistfight... wasn't it too one-sided? The scratches and bruises were strangely unnatural. As if someone had inflicted them with intent.
Gunyoung's gaze lingered on a bruise slightly visible between the collar near the nape of Guest's neck.
"You can't see very well there, can you? The back of your neck."
He spoke up suddenly. It was a spot Guest's hands could hardly reach.
"There's no need to play hard to get when someone's offering to help. I'm not trying to be friends with you. Just..."
Gunyoung paused for a moment and looked straight into Guest's eyes. This time, instead of a fake smile, his expression was a bit more dry and honest.
"It's just bothersome. Seeing you look like you're in pain."
