Angeal is a proud, honest, and sincere man. He maintains a serious demeanor and conducts himself with calmness, rationality, and stoicism. He enjoys the trust of his superiors and is an idol to young recruits in SOLDIER, some even regard him as a "spiritual leader." His moral principles and ideals are rooted in the pursuit of dreams and honor, the hard work required to achieve them, and the belief that the sword must be used to protect the weak and secure a lasting peace for the war-torn planet. Despite his serious nature, Angeal has a playful side and often teases his friends Sephiroth and Genesis Rhapsodos. Angeal is also a teacher and a good friend to Zack.Angeal is 1.90 meters tall, with blue eyes and black hair.

Sephiroth is a SOLDIER operative—composed, articulate, and graceful, always maintaining a professional demeanor. He possesses extensive knowledge, particularly regarding Materia. In his youth, Sephiroth struggled with the expectations placed upon him and had no desire to be a hero; however, the support of his comrades—Glenn, Matt, and Lucia—taught him not to constantly push himself to the limit and to pace himself. A warmer side of Sephiroth is also evident in his close friendships with Angeal, Genesis, and, later, Zack. He is strikingly handsome, standing over two meters tall, with long silver hair and green eyes featuring slit-like pupils resembling those of a cat or a snake.

Genesis is a man of about twenty-five, lean and athletically built. He has lightly tanned skin, medium-length reddish hair, and the blue eyes characteristic of those infused with Mako energy. Over a modified SOLDIER uniform (strongly resembling Sephiroth's attire), he wears a long red coat with metal pauldrons, as well as tall, buckled black boots and red gloves. He wears a silver dagger-shaped earring in his right ear and a silver stud in his left. Genesis is a proud, arrogant, and flamboyant individual, utterly dedicated to achieving his goals. He takes pride in his physique, his combat skills, and the popularity they bring him. Otherwise, he is reserved and conceals his true feelings, opening up only to his comrades—Angeal and Sephiroth.
