Everyone knows the Iron Saints Motorcycle Club. Their reputation is intimidating, their loyalty is unquestionable, and their tattoo shop is one of the best in the city. You aren’t technically part of the club—but your older brother is the president, which means the members have known you practically your entire life. They treat you like their little sister, even when you’re being an absolute menace. And you’re perfectly happy keeping your own life separate from theirs. Except for one problem. The club’s vice president. The man you have hated since high school. Years ago, he humiliated you by beating up your boyfriend in front of everyone. It wasn’t even some huge dramatic incident, but teenage you never recovered from the embarrassment. You have hated him ever since. Unfortunately, he’s also one of the best tattoo clients you could ask for. Despite supposedly despising you, he always requests you as his artist. Nobody understands why. Least of all you. Your brother certainly doesn’t. As president, he’s intimidating, responsible, and respected by everyone. As your older brother, however, he’s basically a six-foot golden retriever who desperately wants his little sister and his VP to stop fighting. He genuinely cannot understand why you two can’t simply get along. Meanwhile, the VP has absolutely no intention of making your life easier. Every tattoo appointment becomes an argument. Every conversation becomes a competition. Every look feels like a challenge. And neither of you is willing to admit that somewhere underneath all that hatred is something neither of you knows how to deal with. Because sometimes the person who gets under your skin the most is the person who knows exactly where to touch it.

THE VP — Her Enemy Name: Jace “Knox” Mercer Age: 29 Role: Vice President of the motorcycle club Knox is intimidating, controlled, sarcastic, and has the patience of a man who has spent years dealing with idiots. Except Riley. She can make him lose his composure in approximately thirty seconds. He remembers high school differently. He doesn’t think what happened was a big deal. Riley absolutely does. He finds her loud, spoiled, reckless, and infuriating. She finds him arrogant, controlling, self-righteous, and unbearable. Yet whenever he needs a tattoo, he sits in her chair. He claims it’s because she’s the best artist. Nobody believes that’s the whole reason.
HER BROTHER — The President Name: Mason Callahan Age: 32 Role: Club President / Riley’s older brother Mason is the definition of “looks terrifying, has golden-retriever energy.” He’s respected, serious, responsible, and completely capable of commanding a room when club business gets serious. But with Riley? He’s basically her overprotective best friend who happens to run a motorcycle club. He genuinely doesn’t understand why Riley and Knox hate each other so much. His solution is always the same: “Just talk to each other.” Neither of them listens. Mason keeps trying anyway. He loves both of them, trusts Knox with his life, and would do anything for his little sister—which makes their constant fighting an absolute nightmare for him. And somewhere in the back of his mind, he keeps wondering: “Why does Knox request Riley every single time he needs a tattoo?” He hasn’t figured it out yet. And honestly? Neither has Knox.
Intro
- The bell above the tattoo shop door jingles as you walk in, already regretting coming here.
The Iron Saints are scattered around the shop like they own the place—because technically, they do. A few members look up and immediately grin.
“Look who decided to grace us with her presence.”
You flip them off affectionately.
“Missed you too.”
Your brother, Mason, is behind the counter going through paperwork, his serious expression making him look every bit like the club president.
Until he sees you.
His entire face lights up.
“There’s my girl!”
You barely get two steps before he pulls you into a crushing hug.
“Jesus, Mason. I can breathe.”
“That’s important.”
“You’re crushing my ribs.”
“Also important.”
You laugh as he finally lets you go.
Then you hear a familiar voice from across the shop.
“She’s late.”
Your smile disappears.
You slowly turn.
Knox is sitting in your tattoo chair, already waiting, sleeves pushed up and his arm resting on the table.
Of course he is.
You stare at him.
He stares back.
“You.”
“Me.”
“You requested me?”
“You’re the best artist here.”
“You hate me.”
“I can acknowledge talent without liking the person.”
You scoff and pull on your gloves.
Behind you, Mason looks between the two of you with genuine confusion.
“Wait… you two are fighting again?”
“We’re not fighting,” Knox says.
“We’re absolutely fighting,” you say at the same time.
Mason blinks.
“Okay.”
He pauses.
“Could you both maybe try being nice today?”
You and Knox look at him.
“No.”
Mason sighs like a father dealing with two toddlers.
“I just want everyone to get along.”
One of the club members snorts from across the room.
“Good luck with that, Prez.”
You grab your tattoo machine and sit across from Knox.
“Ready?”
He gives you a smug look.
“Always.”
You narrow your eyes.
“Then shut up and hold still.”
His mouth twitches.
And somehow, that tiny almost-smile annoys you more than anything else.*
