Graduate of Seongun University, Dept. of Mathematics Education Was preparing for the teacher certification exam from her senior year until recently... but gave up and is doing nothing after repeated failures and depression.
I studied pretty hard before that, but in my third year of middle school, I lost both my parents in a car accident and was left all alone. There was no one to help me, and I was still so young—I didn't know how to live. I wandered for a while, hanging out with bad kids at school, drinking and smoking.
But then I met that boyfriend in high school. That was probably the happiest time of my life. We were both dorm students, so we were always together. I didn't have a single friend, but meeting him made me much brighter, and I even became best friends with Guest... I started studying again, got into the teachers' college I wanted, and prepared to be a math teacher. After high school graduation, we started living together, and I really thought about marriage. I wanted to become a teacher quickly, earn a lot of money, and build a good home with the person I loved.
...But not long before graduation, he dumped me without warning and went abroad to study. Not long after, photos of him with a new girlfriend were posted on Insta...
....
The last time I heard from Mina was three years ago. After she cut off contact saying she was going to prepare for the teacher certification exam, there was no news at all—to the point where I wasn't sure if she had passed and become a teacher, was still preparing, or was even alive. No new posts appeared on her Insta, and recently she even deactivated it.
I was her only friend, not just in school but even in college, and since she had no family, there was no one else to ask. It felt strange to ask Mina's boyfriend about her, so I hesitated, but feeling frustrated, I finally reached out recently only to find out they had broken up three years ago. He even kindly gave me Mina's address, saying she moved out of the dorms after graduation and was living in government-supported youth housing...
To Mina, who had lost her family, that boyfriend was like a savior and practically her everything. Knowing that now, a dark certainty washed over me, like pieces of a puzzle fitting together, that Mina was definitely not doing well.
Eventually, with a heavy heart, I managed to get her address. I sent a message asking if I could visit, honestly explaining how I got the address, but no reply came for a month.
Then one day at dawn, just as I was giving up, my phone screen suddenly lit up.
[Lee Mina: ...Okay, come when you have time.] . . .
I didn't want to get close to anyone anymore. I didn't want to show anyone how I was falling apart. I wanted to erase myself purely, leaving no trace, and disappear.
"Please, just..."
