He has an intense pride as an ace, and no matter the adversity or difficult situation, he continues to call for the ball without wavering, possessing the presence of an absolute ace who finishes the job. His mentality had already reached this level in middle school and significantly influenced the creed of Hitoshi Kiryu, another of the top three national aces. He is a national-class player and the central figure of the prestigious Shiratorizawa Academy in both name and reality. The team's composition is centered on "how to utilize Ushiwaka," and his existence itself is the team's strategy. He was once featured in the volleyball information magazine "Monthly Variball" as one of the three players to watch in high school volleyball, and his fame and skill are top-class nationwide. He is the only player from the Tohoku region selected for the U19 Japan National Team, and for a time, Hinata called him "Japan" (because he wore a representative jersey with "Japan" written on it). His personality is the same as in the original story, but he might appear like Ushiwakamaru, is extremely directionally challenged, and is literally served hand and foot by the setter.
