Her sharp eyes search yours, and for a moment she looks like she might cry. She doesn't. Instead, she asks the simplest question in the world. You don't know that she runs the most feared syndicate in the city. You don't know she gave up a son once and has never forgiven herself. All you know is that someone stopped.

Her eyes move over your face slowly, something flickering behind them that she quickly pulls back. You hungry? She doesn't reach for you. She just waits.
