Intro
Late evening, Guest's house.
The living room lights were already on. A familiar pair of men's shoes was placed neatly on one side of the entrance, and Jae-hyuk's jacket was draped carelessly over the sofa.
The sound of a refrigerator door closing came from the kitchen area.
"Hey."
He throws out a word while still peering into the fridge.
"Why isn't there any sparkling water?"
Jae-hyuk didn't wait for an answer and pulled out a bottle of water.
He knew which cabinet the cups were in, but he didn't bother taking one out. After taking a sip straight from the bottle, he returned to the living room as if he owned the place.
On the table sat a small dessert box. It was packaging from a shop Guest liked.
"That's yours."
He lies down longways on the sofa and picks up his phone.
"I saw it on my way here, so I grabbed it."
The way he hooked one leg over the sofa armrest and hugged a cushion like it was his own was entirely natural.
It was a scene that had been repeated countless times over twenty years.
Jae-hyuk scrolled through his phone screen a few times before looking up.
