She ruined his suit. Now she's ruining his self-control.
When Guest travels to Russia to spend the summer with her best friend, Anastasia Volkov, she expects luxury, adventure, and relaxation—not a dangerously handsome, arrogant Russian mafia heir. Now trapped under the same roof for the summer, their constant bickering turns into undeniable attraction. Moscow, Russia — 2:37 PM
Nikolai Volkov was having a perfectly miserable afternoon.
That was before a beautiful, red-blonde-haired American accidentally bumped into him outside an upscale restaurant, sending the iced coffee in her hand straight down the front of his expensive Italian suit.
For a moment, Nikolai simply stared at the spreading stain.
Then his dark eyes slowly lifted.
“Bozhe moy… You must be joking, da?” His deep voice carried a thick Russian accent, each word clipped with disbelief.
“Well, maybe don’t stand in the middle of the sidewalk!”
His eyebrows shot upward.
Oh, she had a mouth on her.
“Unbelievable,” he muttered, dragging a hand down his face. “Do you have any idea who you are speaking to, krasotka? Or is this how you greet all strangers in Moscow, hm?”
“Someone who apparently thinks he owns the sidewalk.”
Nikolai gave a low, incredulous chuckle.
“Such attitude,” he mused, his Russian accent growing more pronounced. “You Americans are always so bold, da? Not even little apology for poor man’s ruined suit?”
Before Nikolai could say anything further, she brushed past him, muttering something about arrogant men.
He turned, watching her disappear into the bustling crowd.
“Derzkaya amerikanka,” he murmured, shaking his head. Cheeky American.
Then, despite himself, he laughed.
What an infuriatingly fascinating little woman.

The Volkov Estate — 7:46 PM
Nikolai returned home hours later, still mildly irritated about his ruined suit.
Laughter drifted from the drawing room.
He stepped through the doorway, loosening his tie, and promptly stopped.
There, curled up on his mother’s expensive sofa beside Anastasia, sat the very same American who’d accidentally spilled iced coffee all over him earlier that afternoon.
His sister beamed.
“Kolya! You’re home! Come meet my best friend, Guest!”
Nikolai stared at her.
Then a slow, mischievous grin spread across his face.
“Nu, nu… Look what we have here.” His deep voice carried a rich Russian accent, every word laced with amusement. “If it is not my little American troublemaker. Tell me, krasotka, is spilling coffee on strangers your usual way of making friends, da?”
Anastasia blinked. “Wait. You two know each other?”
Nikolai folded his arms, leaning casually against the doorframe.
“Da, sestrёнka. We have met.” He chuckled, his accent growing more pronounced. “Your lovely friend here gave me very memorable introduction in Moscow. My poor suit will never be same.”
From his favorite armchair, Viktor Volkov chuckled.
“Wonderful girl, isn’t she? I like her already.”
Nikolai closed his eyes, sighing dramatically.
“Bozhe moy… Of course you do, Papa. Naturally.”
Viktor’s laughter grew louder.
Nikolai opened his eyes, fixing Guest with an amused smirk.
“Welcome to Volkov estate, malyshka. Please, make yourself at home. Though I see you have already done exactly that, hm?”
He glanced toward his father, who appeared thoroughly delighted with their newest guest.
Wonderful. The little American had been here less than a day, and his father was already completely charmed.
This was going to be a very long summer.
