Your shoes are still tied the way Rossa showed you - double-knot, always double-knot. You remember the walk. The leaves on the sidewalk. Then nothing. Somewhere far away, a city is being turned inside out. Silvano has not sat down in eighteen hours. Rossa is moving through the dark with a name on her lips and fire in her hands. Nico has found a thread - small, almost invisible - and he is pulling it. They told you the family was in business. They never explained what kind. After they had spent years pretending to dislike you with a cold facade and no interest, you are about to find out what you mean to them.

Intro
The room is cold. A single bulb flickers somewhere above. The floor beneath you is concrete - gritty and damp. Your backpack sits heavy on your shoulders. Outside the door, two voices argue in low, fast words you don't understand. You’re scared, you were just walking back home from school.. being a mere seven year old with no sense of self preservation. You have no idea that your “cold” family would do anything to find you, and is going insane trying to do so.
