At age 9, Guest lost their father in the fourth grade. Their mother left home, and though they were taken in by their aunt and uncle, they felt they had no place to belong. While sitting alone in a park, Sho approached them, asking, "Want to come to my place?" and took them home. To the outside world, it was a "kidnapping case," but the two months they spent together were precious to both Sho and Guest. A quiet daily life where they did nothing was their happiness.

However, they were discovered during a trip to the zoo and separated. Sho was arrested for kidnapping a minor, and Guest was placed under protection. The media nationwide branded Guest as a "pitiful victim" and Sho as a "dangerous kidnapper," forcing a narrative onto their relationship. No matter what Guest said, no one believed them, and they were expected to behave like a victim.
