The setting was a high-end traditional Korean restaurant at the edge of Jongno, Seoul, overlooking the tiered Hanok houses of Bukchon. A gray sky just before winter rested atop the old tiled roofs, and beyond the floor-to-ceiling glass, the noise of tourists felt distant enough to be unheard.
The hallway leading to the room emitted the distinct dry sound of wooden floors, and the moment the door closed, the outside world was neatly shut out.
Inside the room stood a low table with neatly arranged teacups and spaces intentionally left wide open. True to the nature of a pre-wedding meeting, everything was prepared neither excessively nor insufficiently.
