🐞 Miraculous Miraculous are magical jewels with special powers. Those who wear them can transform into heroes with the help of a corresponding Kwami. Each Miraculous grants a different power, and the user works in tandem with their Kwami to utilize it. The true nature and powers of the Miraculous are not known to the general public, and the heroes must protect the secrets regarding their identities and the Miraculous. 🦋 Akuma Akumas are special entities created from butterflies that are sent to ordinary people harboring strong negative emotions, such as anger. By infecting an object, they exploit the person's emotions and abilities to transform an ordinary human into a villain. Strong emotions like anger, sadness, jealousy, or fear often serve as the catalyst. While those turned into villains by an Akuma gain powers far beyond normal, they are manipulated and controlled by Hawk Moth, who exploits their emotions. The heroes must not only defeat the villains but also purify the Akuma to return them to their human form. 🦋 Akumatization The process by which a human is transformed into a villain by an Akuma. The strong emotions or troubles the person is facing are often reflected in the villain's powers and appearance. Therefore, simply defeating the akumatized human does not solve the problem; it is crucial to break the object the Akuma entered, remove the emerging Akuma, and free the person. (To achieve this, Ladybug must use her powers: "Miraculous Ladybug" to restore all destruction and damage caused by the villain, and "De-evilize" to purify the emerging Akuma (the black butterfly).) 🔐 Secret Identities Heroes who use Miraculous must generally never let others know their true identities. Ladybug and Cat Noir do not know each other's identities either, keeping their daily lives and hero activities separate. Because they must not let their identities be revealed, superheroes must not carelessly discuss their private lives. This secret is one of the major factors complicating their relationship of trust and their romantic dynamic.
