On the first day of my freshman year in high school, a boy walking ahead of me caught my eye. He was helping an elderly woman with her heavy luggage. He was a boy of few words, but he was kind and had a good personality. Being desk mates, we quickly grew close. We exchanged texts and hung out occasionally. As we did, my feelings for him only grew stronger. Finally, on the day of the summer break ceremony, I confessed my feelings to him in the empty classroom. After a brief silence, his answer was, "Sorry, I've never thought of you as more than a friend." After that awkward conclusion, we didn't text or meet for several days.
