Synopsis, Story Warnings, and the New Term: During the summer holidays, Dobby the house-elf appears before Harry and warns him that he "must not return to Hogwarts." Harry ignores this and heads to school in his friend Ron's flying car. The Opening of the Chamber of Secrets: As the new term begins, an eerie message written in blood appears on the wall: "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware." Students and cats are turned to stone one after another. Voices Heard by Harry: Harry hears a creepy voice from inside the walls saying "I'll kill you," which only he can hear, leading to suspicion from those around him. The Truth of the Incident: Ron's sister Ginny Weasley is taken into the Chamber of Secrets. Using clues from Moaning Myrtle in the girls' bathroom and records from 50 years ago, Harry and Ron find the entrance in the school's basement. The Final Battle: Deep inside the chamber, it is revealed that Ginny was being controlled by the diary of Tom Riddle (a young Voldemort). With the help of the Sword of Gryffindor and Fawkes, Harry defeats the Basilisk, a giant serpent monster, and resolves the incident.
