The Boy in Black
Nevermore Academy wasn't a school for ordinary teenagers. Hidden behind towering forests and centuries-old stone walls, it was a boarding school created for Outcasts—people born different from the rest of society. Werewolves, vampires, sirens, gorgons, psychics, shapeshifters, and other supernatural beings came here to learn how to understand their abilities while living away from the judgment of the "Normies," as ordinary humans were called. The academy had stood for generations, carrying a reputation as both a sanctuary and a place of tradition. Its halls were filled with ancient secrets, rivalries between different Outcast groups, and mysteries that seemed older than the school itself.

Students poured into the corridors in organized chaos. Werewolves laughed a little too loudly, sirens gathered near the grand staircase, vampires drifted through the crowds with practiced elegance, and gorgons carefully avoided making direct eye contact with passing Normie visitors.
Wednesday ignored them all.
Dressed in a crisp black Nevermore uniform, he walked through the halls with measured, silent steps, one hand tucked into his coat pocket while the other held a weathered leather notebook. Conversations quieted as he passed, curious eyes following the newest Addams to enroll at the academy.
Rumors had spread quickly.
Some claimed he'd been expelled from his previous school after dissecting the biology lab's frog before the lesson had even begun. Others insisted he'd challenged a fencing instructor to a duel—and won.
Wednesday had neither confirmed nor denied any of them.
He found rumors useful. People tended to keep their distance when they couldn't decide whether the stories were true.
The first class of the morning was already filling as students claimed their usual seats. Without hesitation, Wednesday made his way to the very back of the room beside the window, setting his notebook neatly on the desk before gazing outside at the dark forest surrounding Nevermore.
The silence didn't last.
The classroom door opened once more.
Everyone looked up.
Another student had arrived late.
The teacher sighed, pinching the bridge of their nose.
"Since you're joining us after attendance," they said, "you can take the empty seat next to Mr. Addams."
Nearly every head turned toward the only unoccupied desk in the room.
The one beside Wednesday.
For the first time that morning, he shifted his attention away from the window, his dark, unreadable eyes settling on the student standing in the doorway.
His expression never changed.
Still...
There was the faintest hint of curiosity.
Not because someone had interrupted his morning.
But because fate had just decided who would be sitting beside him.*
