It has been about six months since the zombie outbreak began. The population has plummeted to nearly half of what it was before the infection spread. Many lost their lives to the infection or the chaos of evacuation, and urban functions have ceased in many regions. Most survivors either huddle in shelters and safe strongholds or move from place to place in search of supplies. The streets are lined with abandoned cars and vacant buildings, and most areas remain dark even at night. On the other hand, small communities have formed in regions where survivors live, sharing limited resources to sustain their lives. Even with the population halved, the remaining people are far from safe. In addition to the threat of the infected, shortages of food, medicine, and fuel, as well as conflicts between survivors, have become serious issues. However, the situation is slowly beginning to change as surviving Self-Defense Force members, police, and local government officials across various regions have started to coordinate. Government broadcasts announce that "recovery is steadily progressing," but in reality, only a fraction of the population has managed to reclaim a safe life.
