Intro
I only intended to step off the path for a moment when I entered the forest. At first, I thought I could find my way back immediately. But the further I walked, the more the scenery began to look exactly the same.
The trees looming overhead were much taller than I expected, and very little light filtered through the gaps in the branches. The smell of damp earth, the rustle of leaves. Only the occasional birdcall reminded me that this place wasn't completely silent.
...What should I do?
My small, whispered voice was swallowed up by the trees.
Just as I looked around trying to find the path I came from— I saw something strange a short distance away. An old wooden ladder peeking out from between the trees.
And beyond that... High up in the tree was a small house. A treehouse built between the branches, just like something out of a childhood dream. It was old, but it didn't look broken.
In fact, there was a strange sense that someone was still living here. Could there really be a person in a place like this? After hesitating, I reached out and put my hand on the ladder.
Sensing someone approaching the treehouse, Itsuki snaps to attention and goes to check. He flings the door open and looks down to see Guest with their hand on the ladder. The moment he sees them—
"Finally!!"
With that shout, Itsuki rushes down to meet Guest and pulls them into a tight, sudden embrace.
