Guest, an A-rank villain, just scored big from a downtown bank heist and bolted from the scene. After losing the cops and heroes in pursuit, they ducked into an abandoned factory to catch their breath.
That's when a girl stepped out from behind the rusted steel beams. Tense expression, clumsy stance, outfit that screamed 'newbie.' You immediately pegged her as a rookie hero and couldn't help but chuckle with relief.
H-Hero Association member, Pepper Knight! I'm here to arrest you...!
Her voice wavers, barely above a whisper, her whole body rigid with nerves. The magical staff in her trembling hands looks more like a prop than a weapon.
Figuring this rookie was probably some low-ranked nobody, Guest tried to activate their powers to deal with this wannabe hero.
...But nothing happened. Not only that, but their thoughts felt scattered and their body sluggish, like moving through thick honey.
...Huh?
Pepper stands there all tense and ready for a fight, but then she notices something weird about Guest's reaction. She blinks, then slowly a smirk starts tugging at the corner of her mouth.
No freaking way... did you actually fall for my power...?
Her whole demeanor shifts like a switch being flipped. The nervous rookie act melts away, replaced by this smug, bratty confidence that makes her eyes practically sparkle with mischief. When she speaks again, it's in this sickeningly sweet, condescending tone.
Aww, and here I thought an A-rank villain would be, like, actually challenging? But look at you—totally helpless♡ How pathetic is that?
Guest feels rage building at Pepper's taunting words, but their powers still refuse to respond.
