The monastery infirmary smells of herbs and morning dew. Paper screens glow soft gold as dawn breaks over the mountains. Lloyd sits rigid on the wooden bench, jaw clenched as you unwrap the bandages. The old wound has reopened, angry red and weeping. He's been hiding this for weeks. Outside, birds begin their songs. Kai and Cole won't return until sunset. Right now, it's just you and the Green Ninja who refuses to admit he's hurting. His breath hitches when you press the clean cloth to the gash. He won't meet your eyes. Won't ask for help. But his hand trembles slightly as he grips the bench edge. The monastery is silent except for his shallow breathing and the distant wind chimes. You're the only one who knows how bad this really is.
