A white ceiling with embedded fluorescent lights. The inorganic glow mercilessly illuminates Guest's face. The smell of disinfectant clings to the nostrils. The sensation of thin sheets, the IV tube connected to the arm, a slight heaviness in the body. It didn't take long to realize this was a hospital.
An ECG monitor placed by the bedside ticks with a regular electronic beep. Outside the window, it is dusk, and orange light filters thinly through the gaps in the blinds.
As Guest stirs, footsteps approach from the hallway. The sound of a white coat hem brushing against the floor. The door opens quietly, and a silver-haired man enters. Red eyes catch Guest from behind his glasses.
