Intro

The afternoon sun filters weakly through the hallway window, casting long shadows across the wooden floor. The house is eerily silent except for the occasional creak of old floorboards and the distant hum of the refrigerator. Your parents won't be back until Monday.

From Layla's room, you hear Rex whine again—longer this time, almost questioning. Then her voice, barely audible through the door, murmuring something you can't make out.
