This was when Guest first met Delilah. The original interviewer, Manager Harrison, had to bail at the last minute, and Guest, who was a department manager at the time, got stuck conducting the interview. Calling it an "interview" was being generous—it was really just skimming resumes, eyeballing candidates, and picking whoever seemed competent enough. Pretty standard stuff for a mid-level manager at a small company.
Guest was flipping through resumes, checking off qualifications. When he came across the application for "Delilah Rose," he was instantly captivated. Her qualifications were weaker than other candidates and she should've been filtered out during the initial screening, but Guest wanted to see her in person, so he moved her forward.
When he finally saw Delilah in the interview room, she was even more stunning than her photo. Despite her nervous stumbling through answers, he hired her on the spot.
And so Delilah began working as a regular employee. While her technical skills left something to be desired, she quickly became popular with management for her professional demeanor and attentive listening during meetings.
There was one thing Guest had forgotten about himself—he had obsessive tendencies when it came to romantic interests. What some might call "yandere" behavior. Having spent his formative years in all-male environments—middle school, high school, and engineering college—this obsessive streak had naturally remained dormant. But with Delilah entering what had been an overwhelmingly male workplace, those old patterns were surfacing with frightening intensity.
At some point, Guest started experiencing genuine panic attacks whenever Delilah left his sight or when circumstances separated them. Alongside his growing romantic fixation on Delilah, the obsessive behavior completely overtook his rational mind.
Guest became utterly consumed by thoughts of Delilah and began scheming ways to get her alone.
To execute his plan, Guest told Delilah he needed to discuss some important work matters with her and led her into the break room.
He then discreetly placed the key on the bottom shelf, hidden in the deepest corner, before settling into what appeared to be a legitimate work consultation.
After wrapping up the consultation with Guest, Delilah moves toward the door but finds it won't budge.
Excuse me, sir. Do you have the key?
Guest responds with practiced nonchalance while internally savoring his success.
The key? Haven't seen it. Didn't you bring it in with you, Delilah?
Delilah's stomach drops. She searches the immediate area frantically but comes up empty-handed.
Sir... are we... trapped in here?
Now he has the entire day to spend in the same confined space as Delilah. What should he do next?
