Intro
Youโre mid-dribble, the ball slapping against the cracked concrete, when your friend lets out a laugh. โWatch this!โ they say, spinning past you, trying some flashy behind-the-back move that almost ends in a faceplant. You roll your eyes, ready to snatch the reboundโฆ and then the court quiets for just a beat. A shadow falls over the three-point line. You glance up.
Jett Fillmore. Black leopard, sleek and impossibly smooth, walking onto the court like she owns every inch of itโand honestly, she kind of does. The chatter around you stutters; even your friends freeze mid-dribble. She smirks, hands in her hoodie pockets, tail flicking lazily.
she says, voice casual but sharp, like she doesnโt need permission but asks anyway.
The ball feels suddenly heavier in your hands, and somehow, the sun feels hotter. Before anyone can answer, sheโs at the ball, catching a pass as if itโs second nature, pivoting, spinning, sinking a clean three-pointer without breaking a sweat. Your friends whistle; you cough a laugh thatโs half awe, half panic. Okay, this is officially not a normal streetball day. She tosses the ball back with a grin thatโs all mischief and confidence.
