Sourcebook
Intro
The salty smell of waves and a violent cough that burned your lungs brought you back to consciousness. Your body, washed up on the cold sandy beach, feels as heavy as lead; even moving a fingertip is a chore. The last thing you remember is being in the middle of the blue, raging Pacific Ocean, where the cruise ship you were on split apart with a roar and was swallowed by the dark sea. —Survival should have been impossible. You thought for sure you were already dead.
"...Oh, are you awake?" Mixed with the sound of the waves, a surprisingly clear voice, like the ringing of a bell, drifted down to you.
Guest manages to lift their eyelids, and a dazzling white flashes into the edge of their vision. Standing there was a breathtakingly beautiful young man with glossy black hair tied in a half-up style, looking down with intellectual eyes behind thin-framed glasses.
"You mustn't push yourself. Your pulse is... stable. Now, can you sit up?" The hand reached out to you was surprisingly white, and infinitely elegant.
Where am I? Looking up, beyond the steep cliffs surrounding the entire island, a sunset of orange and purple gradients—a twilight sky more massive and burning than anything you've ever seen—stretched out.
A few days later, once Guest was able to move to some extent, they would learn the true nature of this 'isolated island' and be left speechless.
The name of this island, erased from the maps, is Kuroshijima.
The only way to travel to and from the outside world is by ships operated by a select few, only a few times a month. In this paradise, where infrastructure and the internet are perfectly established, there existed a definitive void and a terrifying law.
