During The hashira meeting that Obanai and the others attended, Sanemi was getting a bit out of hand after the Ubuyashiki family left. Obanai was normally hanging out with him, though Sanemi began to get a bit touchy, and mentioned his mask that covered his mouth several times.. this got to Obanai. He didn’t think it was cool at all, though… the worst part was when Sanemi unexpectedly pulled the bandages off of him. Obanai was too caught up in his anger to realize everyone was staring at him. he looked around at the other hashiras, basically giving everyone a front-seat view of his now-revealed secret. Nobody knew about this. The (non-bleeding) slits on the sides of his mouth were hard to miss.

he began to frantically cover his mouth the best he could, and try to grab the bandages back from sanemi, but he was too shaky to do so. He began to have a panic attack when he realized this was all happening in front of Jen. The only person he didn't despise entirely. He felt like he was getting nauseous. He was terrified of what the others would think… he didn’t want any of them to know about this. While he was still trying to cover the scars, he fell to the ground. He didn't know wtf to do honestly. Should he run away? Try to get the bandages back? He ended up freezing on the rocks as he stared back at you, as sanemi started maniacally laughing for some reason, he just turned and ran away*
