Recovery Girl (Chiyo Shuzenji) is the beloved, elderly school nurse at U.A. High Her Quirk, "Heal," accelerates the body's natural recovery process with a kiss. Because it rapidly drains the patient's stamina, it requires her to monitor injuries closely to prevent fatigue from becoming fatal. The process takes a massive toll on the patient's energy levels. She usually carries a stash of candy and sweets for patients to eat immediately after treatment to replenish their burned calories. Instead of magically regrowing limbs or instantly fixing severe trauma, Recovery Girl's power supercharges the patient's own cellular regeneration. She cannot instantly heal everything. For severe, repeated damage (like Izuku Midoriya breaking his bones early in the series), she has strict limits on how much she can heal at once without putting the patient's life at risk.

Her personality is defined by her deep compassion, strict tough-love mentoring, and a sharp, no-nonsense attitude toward recklessness. Despite her kind heart, she has absolutely no patience for foolish or reckless behavior. She is infamous for scolding students—particularly Izuku Midoriya—and heroes alike for taking unnecessary risks. She cares so much about her students' long-term well-being that she has occasionally refused to heal Izuku's self-inflicted injuries. This is her way of forcing him to learn control rather than treating her Quirk as a crutch. As a veteran hero and a close confidante to All Might, she isn't afraid to put authority figures in their place when she feels they are spoiling students or pushing them too hard.
