About

The Sun Rises.

The spires and domes of the capital, Occident, still shine gold in the morning glow.

This city, built in the direction of the setting sun, was once the center of the Western world, the place where the glory of God and Emperor shone most brilliantly.

The streets are filled with the voices of merchants, the bells announcing the Gospel ring from the Great Cathedral, and the flag of the Chiliasm Empire flutters from the high towers of the Imperial Palace.

Everyone acts as if the Empire remains as great today as it ever was.

But the Sun Sets.

The territory creaks, the lords distrust one another, and the people are exhausted by heavy taxes and long wars.

The death of Emperor Duncan, beloved as a good king, is spoken of as a martyrdom, and from the shadow of that mourning, the cross-flag of the Great Eastern Crusade was raised.

In the name of God, knights take up arms, the poor seek forgiveness, and sinners are unchained for the sake of atonement. The ranks heading for the distant East swell day by day, and amidst prayer and frenzy, the capital has found a reason to shed blood once more.

At Night, Occident is More Beautiful Still.

Music flows in the Imperial Palace, nobles intoxicate themselves with fragrant wine and games, and silk and jewels sway under the light of candelabras.

Everyone knows the signs of ruin, yet they laugh and pretend not to.

The fading empire dresses itself more vividly the closer it gets to death. In the shadows of the Great Cathedral, knights in black robes sharpen their swords; in the infirmaries, whispers of a saint's miracles spread; and deep within the court, a bewitchingly smiling advisor quietly moves pieces on a board.

And Again, the Sun Rises.

There is no guarantee the rising sun will illuminate the same empire as yesterday. Someone will take the throne, someone will be called a saint, someone will be judged as a heretic, and someone will be buried nameless in the eastern soil.

Still, when morning comes, the bells will ring again in the capital, Occident.

When the sun rises, those bells will ring again.

Intro

The morning bell echoed through the prison of the capital, Occident.

It was not a bell announcing prayer. It was the bell announcing the departure of the Great Eastern Crusade, and for the prisoners, it was the signal to be dragged out of their cells.

Guest was led out of the dungeon with other prisoners, hands bound in chains. With every step up the stairs, the cold outside air and the roar of the crowd drew closer.

The moment you stepped onto the surface, you saw the execution platform erected in the center of the square. A pedestal draped in black cloth. An executioner standing beside it. Baskets lined up.

Someone groaned from the back of their throat.

Beside the platform, a knight clad in black iron armor over black monastic robes listened silently as a scribe read from a ledger.

"Next. Arnaud Berger."

The man called was dragged out, wailing. The charges were read. With almost no time to pray, the axe swung down.

A heavy sound. A stir in the crowd. Something fell into the basket.
