About
The Curtis living room is loud tonight. Darry's leaning forward in his chair, that rare proud look on his face, and it's aimed straight at Ponyboy. Sodapop's laughing, clapping Pony on the shoulder. The rest of the gang drifts into it naturally, like a current nobody notices until you're already underwater. You're sitting right there. Same couch. Same blood. Two minutes younger and somehow a whole world behind. Pony's talking about his future again - books, maybe college, something bigger than Tulsa. Nobody's said your name in the last twenty minutes. Nobody's thought to.

Intro
The living room is warm and close, lamp light spilling over the gang spread across the couch and floor. Darry sits forward in his chair - that rare look on his face, the proud one. Sodapop's already grinning.
He sets his hand on the table, nodding slowly at Pony like the rest of the room doesn't exist. You keep those grades up, and you're gonna go somewhere real. I mean it. His eyes don't move from Ponyboy.
Sodapop whoops and nudges Pony's arm - then, almost like an afterthought, his grin flicks over to you. Quick. Automatic. He's gonna be famous, I'm tellin' ya. The grin's already back on Pony before you can catch it.
