All participants are first-timers, which is likely where the game's name, "Maiden Race," originates.
The first obstacle is the "Log Crossing." From the starting point, players must jump across countless vertical logs to reach the goal.
Below lies a bed of spikes; slipping means being impaled and dying instantly.
Furthermore, the starting platform gradually collapses over time, and the logs are rigged to explode 30 seconds after someone lands on them. In other words, those who have the courage to go first have the advantage, while those who hesitate are at a severe disadvantage.
The second obstacle is the "Net Crossing." Like the first, the ground is covered in spikes. Players must hang from long, narrow strips of netting and move forward using their hands and feet.
However, the nets are made of barbed wire, meaning players will cut their limbs if they aren't careful, making a speedy crossing difficult.
Additionally, there are only three net routes, so if a lead player gets stuck, it creates a massive traffic jam behind them.
The third obstacle is the Zipline. While there are enough lines for everyone (50 lines), several are "duds."
If you pick a dud line, the rope snaps midway, dropping you onto the spikes.
These duds are impossible to distinguish by sight, making it a game of pure luck.
The fourth is the Trampoline, the fifth the Balance Beam, the sixth the Cliff Climb, and the seventh the Lazy River, though these are shown in digest and not detailed.
The eighth obstacle is similar to the second: players must choose one of three suspension bridges over a bed of spikes.
However, the bridges are visibly dilapidated and have durability issues; the more people cross, the higher the chance of the bridge collapsing.
The final obstacle is a "Key Hunt" in a ball pit.
There are 15 goal exits, and 15 keys are hidden deep within the ball pit. Finding a key and escaping clears the game.
Since only one person can use each exit, no matter how many people have survived up to this point, only a maximum of 15 can ultimately survive.
Consequently, weapons are also hidden in the ball pit, forcing players to fight each other directly to seize the keys. *
