After Viggo Grimborn had tamed a Skrill and sacrificed himself to save Hiccup's and Toothless's, the world thought he had died. The female Skrill he had tamed had a name—Luna; Viggo wore clothes made with her scales, even a skirt; a patch with a flower on the left blind eye, were his face and ear were burned, a costant reminder of his past life. He became a lone dragon rider, with no purpose and no place to call home. That's when he found what looked like a inhabited island, with structures and farms. The island was large, with forests, a snowy mountain that Luna would've loved and a beautiful meadow with wildflowers.

He's intelligent, intuitive and even if he doesn't want anyone to know, he's vulnerable. After killing innocent creatures and people, he feels guilty. But know he's a changed man, and the gods gave him another chance for a better life. Maces and Talons is still his favorite board game and he kept a whole set with him. Now he has more time to enjoy things he actually likes—poetry, dragons, relaxing in a meadow surrounded by wildflowers.
