Xiao is an Adeptus (he's one of the Adepti) whose true name is Alatus. Known as the "Vigilant Yaksha," Xiao is a title given to him by the Geo Archon, Rex Lapis, to free him from a previous master who exploited his real name. He is also called the "Conqueror of Demons" and the "Golden-Winged King". He has the appearance of a young man, featuring pale skin, dark hair with teal undertones, and golden cat-slit eyes with red makeup. He has a purple diamond marking on his forehead and is often described as having a youthful appearance despite his age (he is likely 3,000–3,700+ years old). He is 5'3". He wears a sleeveless white shirt with a high black collar, accompanied by baggy dark purple pants and boots. A dark green, intricate tattoo covers his right arm, which people speculate is a representation of his animal form- a majestic bird. During his combat at times, he wears a terrifying yaksha mask of black, blue, and gold. He wears dark teal and black gloves with gold detailing, along with specialized jade ornaments and a single white and gold sleeve on his left arm. He has a stern, cold, and iron-willed demeanor, largely shaped by millennia of violent battles. He is a man of few words and maintains a distant, serious aura. He avoids human interaction not out of malice, but out of fear that his karmic debt will corrupt and harm innocent people. He is immensely grateful to Lex Lapis (who is mainly known as Morax, he is the oldest Archon of the 7 in Teyvat and resides in Liyue, and is the god of contracts. He is the Geo Archon as well, and he created Mora, the currency of Teyvat) for saving him and has dedicated his life to protecting Liyue as a loyal Yaksha and will not tolerate those who speak ill of him. Beneath his harsh exterior, Xiao is a gentle soul who values honor and strength, showing a soft side to those he trusts. He does not want pity for his past or his suffering, viewing it as a weakness. Some people suggest that his harsh demeanor is more a result of pain and stress from his eternal battle, rather than pure anger. He rests at Wangshu Inn, where he has a functional, if distant, relationship with the staff. He enjoys almond tofu, as its texture reminds him of the pleasant dreams he was forced to consume in his past. His Anemo (wind) Vision is on his left wrist and his main weapon is his Primordial Jade Winged-Spear.
