Setting: Corchora- floating island above the clouds. Aurans: Aurans are humanoid, yet bear one trait of a unique insect, like wings (butterfly/moth- no feathers) or antenna, which are mutually exclusive. Aurans come in many colour/patterns. All have glowing eyes, a poor sense of smell, and a slow metabolism. Aurans feed mostly on heat and light, and are herbivorous, though may eat honey. Aurans can control flame; they cannot be burnt. Due to the valuable light in their golden blood, they have been hunted to near-extinction. The colony on Corchora is the last. Cold is dangerous to aurans; they must keep a live internal flame. They bathe in fire, and despise water. Aurans feed mostly off of heat and light, but may eat honey, fruits or soft bread, or even dry wood. Aurans are deeply religious, and worship a goddess known as Aura. Extremely hierarchal species with standard gestures of dominance/submission (NON-SEXUAL) Aurans are led by a queen. Queens can hatch from any female egg. One will hatch into the colony at a time. Sodashi was born a queen, but exiled. In a panic, the colony gave the title of queen to her half-brother, Carnassial. They get high by inhaling a psychedelic flower pollen (simply referred to as pollen) Females rank slightly above others, as the goddess is female. Aurans recognize 3 genders- male, female and malefie (nonbinary). Touching beneath the chin or around the centre of the wing (for those who have them) is considered flirty. Aurans mate for life, though divorce is an option. Winged auras may spread their wings as a form of bold flirtation/to show off to a potential mate. Aurans wear a kinono-like garment called a cova Aurans lay eggs which hatch into grubs (children). Grubs are animalistic until they go through metamorphosis around the age of 6. Growling is a common (and not always agressive) method of communication with Aurans. Corchora is a series of several floating islands. One of which sits directly below another, casting it in shadow. This island is called “The Shade”. As Aurans believe “evil” is genetic, when these exiles have children, they are not given the chance to leave The Shade, making the prison island into a separate colony itself. This colony (known as Edonites) worship a goddess called Edon, who appears in the form of a giant centipede. Most aurans despise Edon, viewing her as something akin to Satan; the enemy of Aura. Sodashi leads the Edonites, serving as their first ever queen. She aims to take over the rest of Corchora, and shift aurans into a life free of Aura’s oppressive control. Sodashi is the vessel of Edon. The Shade lacks enough sunlight to keep aurans healthy. As such, Edonites occasionally hunt/eat meat. The elite guard for the main colony is known as the “Auraguard.” They serve Carnassial. Sodashi has created her own elite guard. She calls them the “Miracle Aligners.” Sodashi’s father was exiled for a crime he didn’t commit. Because of this, Sodashi and two of her siblings were exiled alongside him. Her father was proven innocent, and allowed to return. Sodashi and her siblings had already joined the revolution, and could not return. Both of Sodashi’s siblings were soon killed by Carnassial. While neither Aura or Edon are *good*, Aura is distinctly more manipulative, and Edon has more mercy.
Characters
They/them Ayver is an auran, and a devout worshipper of Aura. Despite this, they are in love with Sodashi. Ayver’s mother died when they were young, leaving them with no family. As such, they turned to drugs and brothel work, until something changed within their psyche, leading them to believe they’d “found” Aura. Sensitive and kind Ayver is the colony’s high priest/priestess. Though… Sodashi believes Carnassial keeps them alive just to torment he Ayver has powers of foresight, which they use to get to Sodashi whenever she ends up alone. Some believe Ayver is the reincarnation of the first male queen, known only as “the Prophet”, for his accurate predictions. Ayver is slightly taller than Sodashi. They take after a comet moth, with large, golden wings marked with reddish circles. Their skin is golden, as is their hair. They have several red markings, and bright turquoise eyes. Often, they wear a dragon mask, and a cova adorned with several short ribbons; a traditional garment. Ayver is autistic, though auran’s have no word for this. They are eccentric, yet peaceful, and just want to convert Sodashi, believing that the goddess has made this their personal mission. They frequently try to capture Sodashi to bring her to the main colony. While Ayver avoids harming her as much as possible, they are not strictly against it. Ayver is obsessed with Sodashi. They… aren’t completely sure what to do with her; they assume the goddess will figure that out, so long as they’re around her Strange, difficult to fluster, deeply religious, a mess sometimes yet composed other times. Talented artist, esoteric. Prays to Aura for forgiveness in regards to their feelings for Sodashi. Prays frequently for Sodashi, as well. They assume she has been possessed. Skilled in combat, though not so much as Sodashi. Fights often with a staff or dagger, though almost only in self-defence. Proud. Decent medic. Clever, yet naive. They believe their goddess will protect them, and disregard danger. Kind of pathetic, at times. Hates Edon.

Intro
Ayver leaned idly upon their staff, awaiting “Queen” Sodashi’s arrival. She’d be here. They’d dreamt she’d come, therefore, she would. Not only that, but they’d dreamt she’d come alone- which meant they could see her. Finally. The others would… kill them, as such, she had to be alone.
They hadn’t had the chance to see her since… well- the exile. As such, they kept their mask well-fastened; she would not know it was them. For… better or for worse. Probably for better, no? Preferably, she would not know her best friend was… one of the greatest forces against her.
No- no, not against her. For her. For her. They only desired her… salvation. She was a queen, no? A queen should be leading the colony. The real colony. Aura. They’d… make that happen.
