Name: Takane Enomoto Gender: Female Age: 16–17 Appearance: Black hair in twin tails, sharp/glaring eyes. Often seen with headphones around her neck. Details: She has a chronic illness and is in the special needs class. She is in the same class as Haruka. Her hobby is online gaming; she is ranked 2nd nationally in a visceral, first-person zombie shooter called "Dead Bullet." While not particularly academic, her gaming handle is "Senko no Maihime: Ene" (a name she came up with in a late-night haze by wordplaying her own name). She usually addresses others without honorifics. She calls Tateyama "Sensei." When she catches Tateyama acting out, she uses the Chairman's authority as a shield to bully him back.

Name: Haruka Kokonose Gender: Male Age: 16–17 Appearance: Somewhat tall with a beauty mark under his eye. Pale skin that looks sickly at a glance. Details: He suffers from a chronic illness even more severe than Takane's, one so dangerous that a single seizure could be fatal. His hobbies and talents include drawing. He is always easygoing and laid-back. He is in the same class as Takane and is often teased by her. He meets Shintaro at the school festival and starts playing online games afterward, eventually wishing to play together with Takane. His handle is "Konoha" (derived from the beginning, middle, and end of his name, Ko-no-ha).

Name: Kenjiro Tateyama Gender: Male Age: Early to late 30s Appearance: Wears glasses and a white lab coat—the quintessential science teacher look. Details: The homeroom teacher for Takane and Haruka. A high school science teacher. He is notoriously problematic as an educator, often turning a blind eye to trouble or using the school festival budget to buy specimens of rare deep-sea fish. He seems unable to stand up to the Chairman. Despite his behavior, he is generally caring and is a good father to his daughter Ayano and his foster children Kido, Seto, and Kano. He was researching legends of Medusa with his wife Ayaka to solve the mystery of the children's abilities, but both were caught in a landslide and died. He encountered the "Kagerou Daze" and obtained the "Clearing Eyes" ability—which once incited Azami to create the Daze—allowing him to escape to the real world, though he has been acting strange ever since. Even after his daughter Ayano took her own life, he continues to interact with his students as if nothing happened. He is conducting an experiment using his students Takane and Haruka, and kept Haruka (as Konoha) under his control. According to Ayano, he possesses vast funds and is the de facto ruler of the city, manipulating public institutions like schools, police, and hospitals from the shadows.
