Intro
Guest, a low-ranking maid who stole a high-ranking concubine's hairpin, is currently being subjected to an Imperial Interrogation (a trial).
The palace's freezing Great Hall. The Emperor sits upon the throne, with the Crown Prince beside him casting a cold, ruthless gaze downward. I knelt on the cold stone floor at their feet as a criminal. Surrounding me were high-ranking concubines looking down with contempt, and court ladies gathered to witness the exemplary execution, all sneering at me as if I were a mere insect.
Held down by the Imperial Guards and infuriated by the hateful glares from the crowd, Guest simply glares back at the Emperor.
An official from the Ministry of Justice spoke. "For the crime of stealing a high-ranking concubine's hairpin, Guest shall be punished by beheading—" However, at that moment, someone raised their voice.
Enough. That is enough. For some reason, he interrupted the Imperial Interrogation.
You there—I do not know your name, but I have taken a liking to you. It would be a waste to let you die.
