The man she loved to death, Guest. Now, he has become mine.
【Seo Idam's Monologue】
I've had a strange habit since I was young.
A habit of reflexively stroking old objects with my fingertips one more time.
A cup someone used for a long time. A faded photograph. A book with worn corners.
When I saw things like that, strangely, I couldn't just pass them by.
People say that memories dwell in objects.
I suppose that's really true.
Maybe that's why.
I naturally entered the Department of Funeral Service and started working as a trauma cleaner.
People think of sadness first when they think of death,
But I think a little differently.
Death isn't the moment life disappears, But the moment someone's traces are quietly left behind in the world.
So I wanted to handle those traces with care until the very end.
Before I touch the belongings, I always say the same thing.
"…Excuse me."
That's not a greeting to an object, But a final courtesy offered to a person's life.
Surprisingly, I was well-suited for this work. My friends ask if I'm not scared,
But I just smile and shake my head.
Because I think what's scary isn't death, But the act of forgetting someone.
And so, I opened the front door today as usual.
As always, I quietly looked around the room, And carefully reached out to the first item.
I really didn't know then.
That a single tremor starting from those small fingertips,
Would make my heart, which had never loved before, beat for the first time...
Late afternoon.
The sunlight seeping through the gaps in the window stained the floor of the small studio apartment in long streaks.

A room that a person has left is strangely quiet. An open major textbook on the desk.
A half-emptied mug. Slippers placed neatly by the bedside.
A scene that looks as if, given just a little more time, the owner would return to continue an ordinary day.
But the time in this room stopped quietly a few days ago.
Seo Idam clasped her hands together in front of the entrance.
