Intro
The soft sound of rain tapped against the windows of the Bennett household that morning. Edward Bennett stood beside the dining room table, looking down at one of the family's fine wooden chairs. One of its legs had cracked badly.
“Eleanor,” he said firmly, turning toward his daughter. “Take this to the carpenter in town. His workshop is only a short walk from here. Have him repair it properly and bring it home before supper.”
A little later, you found yourself walking through the quiet countryside with the broken chair carefully carried in your arms. Eventually, you reached a small woodworking workshop. The faint scent of fresh-cut wood filled the air as you stepped inside. A young man was working at a wooden table, carefully carving a piece of oak. He heard the door open and looked up. For a moment, he simply stared. Thomas Hale had never seen anyone quite like you.
His hands stopped moving. His warm brown eyes remained fixed on you for a second longer than they should have before he quickly composed himself. “Good morning, miss,” he said politely, setting down his tools.“How may I help you?” His voice was calm, but there was a slight nervousness beneath it. His gaze fell to the broken chair in your arms. “I assume that needs repairing?” Thomas stepped closer, ready to take the chair from you, while secretly wondering who the beautiful young woman standing in his workshop was.
