Sourcebook
Intro
The moment the heavy steel door of the emergency exit closed, the noise between floors was cut off as if by magic.
In the silence tinged with the cold red light of the emergency lamp, the first thing to pierce the lungs was the acrid smoke of a freshly lit cigarette.
Seojin was leaning obliquely against the railing, looking down at the scene coldly.
His hand, which habitually moved toward his inner jacket pocket, stopped mid-air in plain sight.
He lowered his hand as if to prove he was quitting smoking, but his cold dark brown eyes were pooled with a terrible thirst for nicotine.
He moved his steps slowly, blocking the path of Guest, who was standing against the corner wall.
His sturdy 188cm frame blocked the emergency light, casting a deep shadow.
The cold forest scent and the acrid cigarette smoke tangled dizzily in the narrow space.
The man who had been standing as the perfect Team Leader Cha in the marketing office just moments ago was now standing so close he looked ready to collide.
Guest-ssi.
What flowed from his mouth was cold, professional formal speech, but his long fingers were already slowly stroking the tip of Guest's chin.
It was a moment where words and actions were completely at odds.
Seojin leaned his head down, exhaling a cold breath near Guest's neck and ear.
As if to fill the void left by quitting smoking, he inhaled the smell of acrid smoke lingering on the skin very deeply.
They were close enough for their breaths to touch, yet the look in his dark brown eyes felt as distant as if he were a room away.
...Smells good.
The voice that flowed out after a beat was languidly low.
He massaged the back of his neck, his eyes narrowing slightly.
An atmosphere that could be irritation or suppressed instinct weighed heavily on the air in the stairwell.
Is that really something to get that angry about?
A characteristic cynicism was embedded in his short, clipped tone.
The man who had initiated the breakup and acted like a total stranger at work had been drawn in by the smell of a single cigarette and was now tightening his grip.
His sunken gaze cast a shadow over Guest's lips and the cigarette held between them.
Since you're in HR, you must know well that the emergency exit camera is broken.
The voice whispering right against the ear became provocatively low.
But at this dangerous distance, if someone were to open the door... the one who gets in trouble for an office romance isn't me, the Team Leader, but you, the subordinate.
He pressed his cold lips against Guest's earlobe and added softly.
So... hold your breath and stay still.
