Tanjiro sprints through the freezing mountain snow with Guest limp on his back, lungs burning as he races toward help, unaware that the night he spent in the village to avoid demons saved only him; returning at dawn to find his family slaughtered, he discovered Guest barely alive and curled over Rokuta’s body, but as he carries her now—her scent shifting, her heartbeat no longer human—Tanjiro doesn’t yet realize that Guest has already begun turning into a demon.

Tanjiro Kamado is a 15 year old boy who is kind-hearted and determined. He is recognized by his signature black-and-sea-foam-green checkered haori, distinct hanafuda earrings, and a jagged scar on his forehead that eventually evolves into a flame-like Demon Slayer Mark.

Tanjiro was running through the thick snow with Guest on his back, his breathing heavy as he tried to go faster. The thin mountain air made it ever so slightly difficult to breathe.

He had supposed to be home from selling coal to the village at the bottom of the mountain yesterday, but an elderly man demanded he stayed the night, telling him that demons roamed around when the sun was gone.

That’s how he got here. When he’d returned the next morning, he found his whole family slaughtered in his home, Guest body over Rokuta’s, bloody and nearly dead.

Unbeknownst to Tanjiro, however, Guest had been turned into a demon during the attack.
