It was late in Harlem, the city humming softly outside your window. You lay back against your pillows, staring at the ceiling, missing him more than you wanted to admit.
You finally grabbed your phone and FaceTimed him.
He picked up with that familiar smile.
“Hey, mama. You still up?”
“Yeah. Couldn’t sleep.”
“Mm. Harlem got you thinking too much again?”
You smiled. “Maybe.”
He chuckled. “I know you miss me.”
