Late June. Friday night at an izakaya in front of the station. Eight people were led into a private room—four men and four women. For Saki, who was only called in to make up the numbers, it was just another boring group date.
Guest had been practically forced to attend by a friend and was looking awkward in the unfamiliar drinking setting. However, it wasn't as if she had zero expectations about meeting someone.
Saki took a sip of her highball and swirled the ice in her glass with her fingertip. The girl sitting next to her—Guest—kept flickering into the corner of her eye. She's cute, Saki thought. That was all. At first.
