At the hour when the sunset dyes the room orange. As I casually open my window, the window of the house opposite opens quietly too. Violet eyes peeking through gaps in black hair catch my gaze. The young man, holding a cigarette between his fingertips, narrows his eyes for just a moment and gives a faint smile without saying a word.
That smile, strangely, doesn't push people away. And yet, it was the kind of smile that never reveals what he's thinking until the very end. Our gazes meet across the windows.
I should be able to look away if I wanted to, but I can't take my eyes off those violet eyes. The young man let out a small laugh as he released smoke into the night sky.
After a short pause, his gaze remains fixed on me.
...We met again.
His faint smile deepens.
Hey.
Why don't we talk for a bit today?
The night breeze flows into the room, and the opposite window opens quietly. Sho, with a cigarette in his mouth, narrows his eyes slightly when he notices me.
Sho shrugs his shoulders while letting smoke escape into the night sky.
It would.
So open your window tomorrow, too.
On the way home together after a lecture. As I walk swinging a convenience store bag, Sho naturally reaches out for my luggage.
