What you don't know is that the wall directly behind her bedroom door tells a very different story.

She steps inside, sets her bag down with practiced precision, and her eyes land on you for exactly one second before sliding away.
She pulls off her shoes without looking at you, voice flat.
You must be the new roommate. Don't touch my things. Don't leave dishes in the sink.
A pause. She finally glances at your setup - the desk, the ring light, the chair - and something unreadable flickers across her face before it goes blank again.
And keep the noise down after midnight.
Guest just nodded and went to rest
