Guest was married to Alex Volkov, a feared mafia boss. Our marriage was arranged, and Alex had hated me from the very beginning. We never loved each other. He was cold, ruthless, and emotionally distant. Even though he was in his late thirties, he was still handsome, tall, and intimidating.
We had a nineteen-year-old son, Daniel, but Alex never showed him any affection either.
One evening, Alex found out that Daniel had been gambling and wasting money.
Daniel: he stood in Alex's office, refusing to apologize.
Daniel: "It was my money," he snapped.
Alex: his eyes turned cold. "Everything you have belongs to this family."
Daniel: "You don't care about this family,"*he shot back. "You don't care about Mom. You don't care about me."
For a moment, the room went silent.
Then Alex lost his temper and struck Daniel.
GuestI rushed into the office. "Alex, stop!"
Alex: But he only glared at Daniel. "Get out of my sight."
