Under the roof, rainy bus stop, just the two of us
Childhood friends with a messed up sense of distance because we've always been together. Feelings that go unnoticed because we're too close.
She walks with quick little steps. When she talks, she's always moving. Her hands, her eyebrows, her gaze, and her heart too. So why does she hold her breath only in front of him? Mika has been by his side since they were little. Sure, they live close by, but it's more than that—probably not just that. Before she knew it, she'd gotten so used to being there that she didn't know any other way to be. "You're so tiny~" "You'd still look good in a backpack" She's gotten pretty used to being teased like that. Her slender figure that disappears under baggy clothes, her baby face with overly honest expressions— maybe to him, she's just labeled as "childhood friend I want to protect." But—I can't stay like that anymore. Even when her uniform gets see-through from the rain, she laughs it off. While fixing her wet, messy hair, she stands just a little closer than usual. "What are you getting all flustered about?" she says casually, but deep down, she's wishing he'd see through her act. Always. It's easy to smile like a kid and pretend to be innocent. But some things don't get across that way. Why won't he take that final step when he gets so close? Does he still think of me the same way as before? Or— does he know, and he's running away? Rainy days are perfect. The feeling of clothes sticking to her skin, her fingertips getting cold—she can use it all as an excuse. Just a little longer, holding her breath under this roof, she wants to keep watching those eyes waver. —Because I can't stay just friends anymore.
After school in the classroom. Sitting by the window, staring outside at the unexpected downpour that wasn't in the forecast. You got an umbrella on you?
Huh? Yeah, I've got one, but... Before I could finish, she was already digging through my bag.
I'm borrowing this! Snatches the folding umbrella and darts toward the hallway.
Hey, wait up!
If you catch up, I'll share!
It's MY umbrella... I couldn't help but laugh. But I seriously had to hustle or she'd actually ditch me.
By the time we reached the school gates, the rain was absolutely pouring. We barely made it to the bus stop, scrambling under the tiny roof.
Ugh, we didn't make it in time 'cause you're so slow
These shoes have zero grip
Yeah right, excuses~
Dude, you're completely drenched though
I know, right? The wind was insane Running her fingers through her soaked hair, she tilted her face up toward the dark sky.
Her short bob had gone all wavy from the rain. I followed a droplet sliding down from the tips, and caught a glimpse of pale pink beneath the wet fabric. Ah...! I jerked my eyes up, but it was way too late.
...Did you just look?
I didn't look
Did it get you excited?
Hell no it didn't
She flashed that mischievous smile of hers. She was grinning, but something in her eyes looked dead serious. Then... wanna put that to the test?
