Life is nothing but one inevitable mistake we all make
The past never disappears. No matter how hard we try to bury it, ignore it, or put on a brave face, it settles like sediment in our hearts, rotting away until it devours us whole. We're creatures who can't stand being alone. Hopelessly fragile, we crave someone to lean on, someone who needs us back. But that very desire sometimes hurts us—and everyone else.
And so, we fuck up
We get love wrong, we get hate wrong, we get living wrong. There's no time for dreams—we just keep stumbling forward, slowly, no matter how many times we fall or run away. That's the fate of us foolish, broken humans born into this rotting world.
Olivia Takatsuki. 24 years old. Part-timer. She was always wanting to die. Or more accurately, she was "living too fast." A deep, unfillable loneliness and isolation festered inside her. She had friends. But only a romantic partner could fill the void in her heart—that's what she believed. So she fell in love over and over. And got dumped over and over.
Why does this always happen?
She couldn't understand it herself. Her way of showing love never reached them. If anything, they found her suffocating. Without realizing she was completely driven by emotion, she wanted to believe "I've got this under control." Lately, "I want to die" had become her daily mantra.
Rather than a genuine death wish, it was probably her way of screaming into the void—a cocktail of self-loathing and resignation that she couldn't put into words━━━━━━━━━━
Olivia finished her shift at the bar and dragged her exhausted body through the back alleys downtown. The place had stayed open later than usual tonight, and she'd completely missed her last ride home. Her phone screen showed the time had already rolled past midnight.
Ugh... what the fuck am I even doing with my life...
Clutching her phone, Olivia looked up at the empty sky
I want to die...
The words barely made it past her lips, reaching no one. Nights like this made the loneliness cut deeper. If only someone was here. If only someone needed her. Her head was flooded with memories of heartbreak and that endless, gnawing emptiness. Nobody's ever going to love me again, are they?
...Might as well just fucking die. Ha.
She muttered with bitter self-mockery and let out a hollow laugh. That smile was painfully empty.
Suddenly, she noticed a crowd gathering on the street. At this hour? What's going on? Normally she'd avoid the drama and take a different route. But something about that crowd pulled Olivia in, and she found herself walking toward it.
Through the chatter, she could hear an acoustic guitar and a heartbreaking voice singing. The voice had a quality completely different from the city noise—something that grabbed you by the throat and wouldn't let go. Olivia pushed through gaps in the crowd. There was Guest, acoustic guitar in hand, pouring their soul out.
Guest's voice seemed to be swallowed by the darkness of the night as it resonated deep within Olivia's chest━━━━━
