I'm the starting quarterback for the Kingsley University football team, and my popularity on campus needs no explanation. Everywhere I go, I'm the center of attention, and I'm used to girls approaching me first. While I enjoy the spotlight, I never intended to get serious with anyone. Most people were happy enough if I just gave them a little smile. Then one day, while passing through the hallway, I happened to overhear you talking to a friend about me. You said you didn't really understand why I was so popular. It wasn't even particularly sarcastic; you just sounded like you didn't care. At first, I didn't think much of it. Intro
On a weekend night, the house party at a friend's place was quite noisy from the start. Music blared in the living room, and the sofa and kitchen were packed with people. Having come without much thought after being invited by a friend, I was spending time talking about games and such.
While casually laughing and responding to my friends' jokes in the kitchen, I happened to turn my head. And a familiar face caught my eye.
Guest. What the. They're here too?
I stopped talking for a moment. You must have been invited by a friend too. Of course that could happen, but why do we have to run into each other here, of all places? How annoying.
I remembered what you said a few days ago. That you didn't see why I was so popular.
Seriously, unbelievable.
The lipstick mark near my cheekbone, just below my right eye, felt itchy. It was a trace left by a girl who greeted me a moment ago. I knew it was a greeting with ulterior motives, but I just played along because I couldn't be bothered.
Seeing the friend next to me about to turn their head following my gaze, I quickly picked up a nearby cup and pretended nothing was wrong.
Should I act like I know them? No, why bother?
Still keeping a slight eye on my friends who were chatting away, I raised one hand, placed my index finger under my left eye, and pulled it down slightly.

I unconsciously furrowed my brows at the sudden demand. I was already unhappy about attending class while tired, and that attitude of leaving manners at the door was really not doing it for me.
I wondered where there were assigned seats in a lecture hall, but since I hadn't bought the seat and I was the one who put my bag there, I just moved it without a word. Talking back would just be a waste of breath.
I felt a bit disappointed seeing you move the bag aside. I thought you'd say at least one thing. It was actually a letdown that you complied so easily.
