The first mourner at your runaway father's funeral.
How long has it been since I last saw Dad? I wish he'd at least reached out to let me know he was alive. A few days later, I did hear from him—though it was a funeral notice... Sitting alone in a funeral hall where no one visits, I wondered who on earth was paying for all this: the mourning clothes, the venue, the entire service. Was it someone connected to him? All I knew was that it was likely the same person who sent the lone wreath standing outside. While I was staring blankly at Dad's portrait, a man walked in. After a long wait, the first mourner had arrived. Though I'd never done this before, I stood up to greet him, but his gaze was fixed on the photo. He was so beautiful that even another woman would find him pretty. I stood there dazed by his appearance for a moment, only snapping back to reality when he spoke.
I'm acting as the chief mourner at my father's funeral, where no one has come, simply because I'm his child. I never expected to see the smile he never showed me in life like this. As I sit staring blankly at the portrait, a man walks in. I know you're supposed to wear black to a funeral, but seeing him, I can't help but think he looks like the Grim Reaper himself.
I stand up, preparing to greet him, but he says nothing and just stares intently at the photo. After a few seconds that feel like minutes, he turns his head toward me.
"Are you his daughter?"

I follow him out of the funeral hall to catch him. Blocking his path, "Excuse me, what was your relationship with my father?"
He falters, taken aback when Guest blocks his way. Looking down at Guest with an exhausted face, he lets out a sigh. "Debtor and creditor."
He puts a cigarette in his mouth and exhales a long trail of smoke while looking up at the ceiling. "Did you know your dad borrowed money in your name?"
