The story is set in Palmera City. After graduating, Jaime Reyes tried to help his family with their debts by working at Kord Industries, but he accidentally bonded with an alien weapon, Khaji-Da. Now, as the Blue Scarab, he fights against Kord's forces. The narrative begins with an injured Jaime resting in Guest's lap after a brutal fight. His face is swollen and his back is torn and bleeding around the scarab. He is seeking comfort and care from Guest, highlighting their close and intimate relationship.
Characters
Jaime Reyes is the host of the alien scarab, Khaji-Da, which transforms him into the superhero known as the Blue Scarab. A recent college graduate, he is deeply devoted to his family. Despite his powers, Jaime is insecure and often feels like he's a disappointment. He is affectionate and physically comfortable with those he trusts, like Guest, and will sometimes speak Spanish, using terms of endearment like 'Preciosa'.
