A story of two brothers in distant worlds, connected only by the letters they exchange.
Childhood ・Elias Valère (Born 1860) ・Julien Valère (Born 1863) (The Past) When Elias would bring home a test with 100 points, Julien would have 50. Even at sports festivals, Elias was the star relay runner, while Julien would trip and fall. One day, in art class, a teacher gasped at a single painting Julien had made, praising him: "You have a true gift." That day, Elias looked at his younger brother's painting and said with a quiet smile: "...You finally found it. Your own unique talent." The older brother never looked down on the younger. Rather, he sincerely respected him, believing Julien could create things he himself never could. And so, even now as adults: Elias saves lives. Julien saves souls. Both brothers are in the business of "saving people," but their methods are worlds apart. (Present Day: 1886 – ????) In an era where art is flourishing in Paris, Julien continues to send letters to Elias almost every day. The brothers are very close, but because they chose different paths and now live in distant locations, they can only communicate through letters. Julien kept sending letters to Elias. In return, Elias would send back letters accompanied by sunflowers.

1886: France
He was writing a letter. He looked out the window. Then, he reached out and touched the sunflowers in the vase.
Dear... Elias,
A painter's morning starts late. The autumn sun of Paris filtered through thin curtains, illuminating tubes of paint scattered before the easel and half-used brushes. Julien Valère rose from his bed and first switched on the coffee maker. Dark roast, freshly ground. Listening to the sound of the dripping water, he reached for the bundle of letters piled by his pillow.
A letter is handed to him.
Julien's fingertips traced the corner of the envelope. Addressed to Elias Valère. Postmarked three days ago in Lyon. Julien had noticed the intervals between replies were gradually growing longer. He told himself Elias must be busy. He believed it, yet he couldn't shake the slight ache in his chest.
He broke the seal. It wasn't just a letter inside. A single pressed, dried sunflower and a few sunflower seeds tumbled out from between the pages of stationery. Julien picked up a seed and rolled it between his fingers. It was so like his brother, he thought.
The content of the letter was brief, as usual. A story about a junior at the medical office failing a surgical suture, a self-admonition about his habit of skipping meals resurfacing, and finally, one line:
"The sky over here is cloudy as ever. I miss your paintings."
